Funny adverts

The adverts on Spanish TV contain strange smatterings of English, One ad for a spanish TV company used a cover of All Together Now by The Farm:
All together now, All together now, All together now, In no-man's land
With the last line ringing out proudly over the slogan at the end of the ad!

Snow!

It snowed last night and this morning I went out to help with the building of a big snowman... It was hard though, since as ever, I've managed to lose 1 glove from my pair!

Yo soy tu padre

I watched Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in Spanish with English subtitles, was fun to see who they got to do the dubbing!

Corte Ingles

I went into town the other day to find a mask, I was confronted by corte ingles, but not just 1 corte ingles, but, 3 or 4 in the same square, it was very confusing, but I found what I wanted after lots of searching!

Futbol in Madrid!

Last night, I watched the football in the residences, there were a few Arsenal fans, but obviously mostly Madrid. There is a cinema where they showed the match, but it was full, so we watched in the TV room instead.

Basketball!

Last night, I went to see the basketball team who play at UEM, Bastander, play, it wasn't as enjoyable as the match I went to see in Israel, but it was fun none the less. The final score: Bastander Club: 81 C.B. Coslada: 73

Breakdancing on the Metro

I ran out to catch a bus into town last night, inside the station there were a gang of breakdancers, it was a sight to be seen and and an indorcement of the cleanliness of the Madrid Metro, certinally in comparison to the London Underground. As I ran out the door, sadly I didn´t have my camera...

Hi-Tech Photos

The best of my lectures today was Fotografia Digital. The tutor was very excitied about geo-tagging images so they can be mapped on Google Earth and the like, and this is what the course involves. You can see all the photos tagged 'UEM' on Flickr taken by previous students.

My first lecture!

I went today for my first lecture 'Videocreaicon y fotografia' but we were swiftly whisked off to a lecture by the British artist, Goldsmiths lecturer and author of 'The End of Art Theory' Victor Burgin. He spoke only in English so many of the Spanish students were falling asleep, but I was enjoying it. At the end I was the first to clap and the only person to ask a question! After, as the 'english speaking' student I had a fancy luncy with the artist and the people who organised the event! All in all it was an unexpected surprise, and an easy start to my course!
